This Weekend: Canadian International Air Show, Jonas Brothers, Ashkenaz Festival, Romeo and Juliet
By Michelle Ervin
Labour Day weekend has arrived. It means there's time for one last hoorah before the summer is over and the kids go back to school.
The hot ticket is for the tweens again, as the Jonas Brothers take to the stage on Friday. That leaves three days to catch air shows, art shows, plays and more. Here's PostCity.com's list of the top five things to do this weekend.
Canadian International Air Show
The Ex will once again end with a weekend run of Toronto's spectacular annual air show. With performances by the Canadian Forces' Snowbirds and the Canadian Harvard Aerobatic Team, it's a great event for the whole family.
Sept. 4-6, Exhibition Place
Artisans at the Distillery Art Show
Take a leisurely stroll through the historic Distillery District this weekend to explore the art show on display. Afterward, relax on a patio, while the weather is still warm.
Sept. 3-6, The Distillery District
Jonas Brothers concert
With the excitement of the recent Justin Bieber concert fading, tweens are looking forward to seeing the Jonas Brothers perform on Thursday and Friday. For parent chaperones, it's the last big night out for the kids before back to school.
Sept. 2 and 3, Molson Amphitheatre
Dream in High Park
Bring a blanket and a basket of food to High Park for an outdoor performance of Romeo and Juliet. Spend the evening under the stars, taking in one of Shakespeare's classics before the play closes its curtains for the last time this season on Sunday.
Sept. 3-5, High Park Amphitheatre
The Ashkenaz Festival
On the final weekend of the Harbourfront Centre's World Routes Summer Festivals series, Yiddish and Jewish culture will be celebrated. Don't miss the Ashkenaz Parade on Monday, which is said to be the highlight of the festivities.
Sept. 4-6, Harbourfront Centre
