How to find meal deals on Twitter

Twitter isn't just for keeping track of your friends or to follow Oprah and Ashton Kutcher. It's also a great way to find out about deals, discounts and openings at your favourite places to grab a bite.

Here's a few we keep track of:

Freshii

Make sure you visit their Twitter page before heading to a location for lunch. There you'll find frequent deals like: "Mention this tweet and get a free scoop of jack and cheddar cheese at any freshii today!" or "Mention this tweet and get 10% discount on your entire order if you bring your own bowl or coffee mug today."

The Drake Hotel

The staff at the Drake keep their page updated daily with tweets like: "Tonight on the Sky Yard: Free popcorn, free laughs, free screening. Monty Python + The Holy Grail."

The staff even posts job openings: "Do you share our love for culture, people and food? We're looking for a new Host with a welcoming attitude! jobs@thedrakehotel.ca"

Oliver and Bonacini

With so many restaurants, this is the best place to keep track of what Peter and Michael are up to (besides our website of course).

An example of a recent tweet: "Hospitality perk! 50% off food @ Biff’s for hospitality workers..."

Patrick McMurray

Our resident blogger also maintains a great Twitter page where he tweets about specials and contests at his two restaurants: Starfish Oyster Bed and Grill and The Ceili Cottage. Most recently, he was tweeting about a chance to win a trip to Ireland: "All Canadian Oyster Eating Championship - August 20th at The Ceili Cottage - Eat your way to Ireland and tour with me! www.ceilicottage.com"
