Morning Throwback: Porter Airlines has nothing on this badass pilot from the 1900s

Aviator Bert Acosta prepares to take William James Sr. up in airplane, Leaside, 1916
(Toronto Archives: Fonds 1244, Item 4536)

Sure, you may think Porter’s the shiznit with its free food and booze, but we’d take a badass pilot from the 1900s any day. With his leather jacket, cool cap, cigar and all-around swagger, the choice is clear: we’d rather fly pimped than refined.
