Morning Throwback: Toronto firemen have always been hunks of sweet love

Three firemen walk beside muddy Lansdowne Avenue, north of Davenport Road, circa 1910
(Toronto Archives: Fonds 1244, Item 15)

Dostoevsky once said, “The fire is in the minds of men and not in the roofs of houses,” but if that were true, we wouldn’t need sweaty firefighters to extinguish our fires. But man oh man. What wouldn’t we do to get to know these guys? Put a cat up in a tree? Start an illegal bonfire? Come on, baby, light my fire, indeed.
