Greta Constantine debuts spring/summer collection in style

The Greta Constantine boys don’t like to play by the rules. Rather than show their spring/summer collection at Fashion Week, designers Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong opted to invite a clutch of sartorially-minded kin to the TIFF Bell Lightbox for an intimate intro to their latest garment offerings. Before the cocktail party began, a select group of fashionistas enjoyed an O&B-catered dinner, proving that food and fashion do mix.

On the sixth floor, with a view of Drake’s favourite Toronto emblem, we scanned the waggishly-costumed crowd for trends. We took in plenty of black and white (of both the patterned and striped variety), as well as plaid, winter florals, and fur toppers. The odd stud also, unfortunately, made a few appearances — apparently that stale trend has yet to be buried. â€¨â€¨

The Suzannes — Rogers and Boyd — demanded attention in their bold attire, while Caitlin Cronenberg and Greta’s Stephen Wong worked a “stripe story,” as the younger Cronenberg quipped, while posing for a matchy-matchy photo. Pickersgill also wore black and white, while Jacflash's Jaclyn Genovese’s pastel pink coat was a refreshing look for winter (as was one lady’s gravity-defying fur hat).

The Greta Constantine spring collection reflected the partygoers’ attire, with B&W dresses shown alongside a gaggle of pretty pink frocks, draped and gathered just-so. Perhaps the best look of the night came from Wong’s nephew, who, it was noted, is a regular fashion show attendee. Pairing a blue and white checkered shirt with denim, the tot finished off his look with a shearling-lined bomber and some light-up runners, along with his best “blue steel” gaze. A real fashion moment.
