Tony Aspler’s Wine Pick of the Week: Boekenhoutskloof Porcupine Ridge Syrah Viognier, 2010

This Northern Rhône style-wine has a smoky blackberry nose with an herbal note; it’s full on the palate, dry and savoury with a bitter chocolate finish. Lively acidity and full-bodied. Food match: beef casserole, old cheddar.

$16.95, Vintages #79442

Post City Magazines’ wine columnist, Tony Aspler, has written 14 books on wine and food. Tony also created the Ontario Wine Awards. He can be heard on 680News.
