Cheap Eat of the Week: the coctel de camarones from Seven Lives
More refreshing than a Caesar (Image: Gizelle Lau)
What says summer better than strolling Kensington Market on the weekend? If you’re looking for a refreshing snack, head to Seven Lives for its So-Cal-style Mexican eats.
Opened in April, Seven Lives is a small shop, but it’s worth facing the crowds to get a piece of the action. An easy takeaway is the coctel de camarones ($7), a spicy Mexican shrimp cocktail served cold with a side of saltine crackers.
Packed with shrimp, avocado and red onions in a spicy tomato sauce with a touch of cilantro, it’s like a Caesar, but without the vodka and way more refreshing.
