Every week, we round up the best events from the city’s fashion scene. In this edition: an online retailer pops up on Queen West, launch parties for two new magazines, a warehouse sale and more.
Where: Love of Mine, 781 Queen St. W.
When: Aug. 15 – Sept. 30
Details: Do you love shopping online for new clothing but hate not being able to try things on before you buy? The city’s newest online shop, Nowhereland, solves this problem by opening up an extended pop-up shop in prime Queen West territory starting on Wednesday.
Where: June Records, 662 College St.
When: Thursday Aug. 16, 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.
Details: We really don’t know much about this magazine launch but we figure — we have a little brother, and we also like magazines… so why not check it out?
Where: Cooper Cole Gallery, 1161 Dundas St. W.
When: Aug. 16, 8 p.m. - Midnight
Details: Newly launched arts and culture magazine Villain is throwing a celebratory party, and they’re inviting you and a friend (or five). Early birds get the free food from Lou Dawg’s, and drinks, so don’t be late!
Where: Polyhaus, 388 Carlaw Ave.
When: Aug. 17, 9 p.m.
Details: This monthly east-side event combines music, food and an installation series. This time around, enjoy a free Italian dinner to the sounds of Tezeta, Ostrich Tuning, Joseph & The Mecurials and LIPP, with visuals provided by Sarah D’Angelo and Joële Walinga. When was the last time $7 got you all that?
Where: Muttonhead Studio, 163 Sterling Rd., Studio 9B
When: August 17-19, 12-8 p.m.
Details: Even better than a sample sale is a stock blowout sale. Why? Because you’ll find more than just sample sizes available, and maybe even multiples of each style! Muttonhead will be selling SS12 stock at 40-70 per cent off, and will be joined by the likes of Naked & Famous, LABEL, Leilanni, Cuchara, Handsome, Outclass and Clothing Brand Experiment.
Where: Parts & Labour, 1566 Queen St. W.
When: Friday Aug. 17, 10 p.m. - 2:30 a.m.
Details: Fiery Leos must be roarin’ to go by now, seeing as it is already mid-August. Celebrate your month and blow off some steam by dancing to old school hip hop and R&B all night long, courtesy of the Diego Bros.
