Gentleman’s Choice: punchy accessories to brighten up your wardrobe

Published:

If you need a good excuse to keep a beloved old suit jacket or broken-in pair of boots around, consider breathing new life into them with some punchy new accessories rather than giving them the old heave ho.

Hook + ALBERT's spring 2013 collection boasts colours such as fuschia, purple, burgundy and yellow, and is now available at Jerome's Menswear.

The United States haberdasher's silk boutonnieres have a horn button on their reverse which fits into your jacket's lapel hole, so there's no need to pierce the fabric of your favourite investment piece to create a statement. For less bold days (and we all have them), a smaller version is also available.

Hook + ALBERT's loudly-coloured waxed cotton laces measure 32 inches in length, fitting dress shoes and boots that have between four and six pairs of eyelets. Their coating protects them from moisture and fraying, meaning they'll stick around just as long as those boots.

Silk boutonnieres: large, $30, small, $26. Laces, $10 a pair. Available at Jerome's Menswear, 2480 Yonge St., 416-489-2494.
