Avid online shoppers may have noticed a recent influx of Canadian-based e-boutiques that specialize in low-priced luxury goods and flash sales. Thanks to shipping complications, these sales were, in the past, usually reserved for our Yankee cousins. Now, The Peacock Parade has entered the scene. Launched last week, the new shopping site aims to change how Canadians shop online by promising shopping equality for all.

Hoorah, the long weekend is here! Whether you’re staying in the city or heading out of town, what better way to spruce up your mid-summer wardrobe than with a new bather? Maybe you’re sick of what you’ve been wearing thus far, or maybe you’re slipping into one for the first time this summer; either way, new swimwear can be hard to come by at this point in the fashion season. We were ecstatic to find this eye-popping, multi-print onesie by Aussie label One Teaspoon. Try it with a wide-brim hat by the water, or pair it with high-waist bottoms in the city – it doubles as a very chic bustier!

For those ladylike trendsetters who clamour to Aritzia for its ultra-feminine Wilfred line, here’s some very good news: Wilfred will open its first-ever boutique this summer at Toronto’s ever-evolving Eaton Centre.
Though faithful Aritzia customers may frown upon the label’s new digs (let’s face it, malls don’t have quite the same cache as they did in the Clueless era), the ‘grand apartment’ concept of the new store promises its clientele the cozy boutique aesthetic they’re used to, along with a contemporary edge.

When barometer meter readings are on the rise, collared shirts and slacks are no man’s friend. And though none should be denied the right to cool down in a pair of Bermuda shorts, there is a clear distinction between a breezy summer wardrobe and a sailor’s closet (circa 1930s/Popeye era) that should not be ignored. It’s the simple difference between a tailored short-sleeved button-up and a cuffed cap sleeved plaid shirt buttoned to the top.

Pondering how to dress stylishly in the blistering heat that's hit the city, we stumbled upon these scalloped hem shorts by Diepo. Instantly, our wardrobe woes were washed away. Their minimal length shows off bicyclette-toned legs and still manages to cover you up in all the right places; the high waist allows for cool, cropped and billowy shapes to be worn on top. Try them with flat sandals, a sleeveless blazer, an oversized clutch and sunnies. They’re like having a bit of Chloe added to your closet, but with less credit card damage. Plus, they're designed by two gals from Toronto.

The popularity of music festivals is growing every year, and with celebrities often in attendance, style photos of festival fashion are more coveted than ever. Who could forget Kate Moss in those short shorts and Hunter boots at Glastonbury a few years ago, or Alexa Chung in her Barbour jacket last year — now the most desired jacket and pair of boots on the planet?

After over 10 years of rocking, the iconic Annex record store Sonic Boom will be rolling down to Kensington Market to open up its second location. The upcoming shop at 201 Augusta Avenue — currently preparing for an early August opening — will sell only vinyls and casual vintage wear and accessories, store owner Jeff Barber tells us.

It's time to get freaky, Africana style. Supafrik has debuted at Kensington Market’s Hotshot exhibition space, and it's the first pop-up shop of its kind in Toronto. Chinedu Ukabam, designer of Chinedesign and curator of the pop-up, wants to bring urban contemporary Africana to the streets of Toronto.

Everyone wants to give off a flawless natural look — even if it means not going au natural — and Toronto's Melanie Cruickshank wants to help you do that with DaLish Cosmetics. Her animal-friendly brand started out as a kitchen-sink experiment and has since grown into a product that's sold across North America. Yesterday, Cruickshank kicked off a DaLish pop-up shop at the Jessica Jensen studio in the Burroughes Building to test the waters for a potential standalone location.

Because, if there’s anything the French can do amazingly well (besides produce awesome wines and cheese), it’s looking trés chic in a very effortless way.

Budget-conscious fashionistas take note: three Joe Fresh stores are coming soon to Toronto. The best part? They’ll be standalone, meaning no grocery store multitasking while scouting for T-shirts. The stores are pure Joe — clothes only.

Toronto trendsetters were buzzing this weekend when tweets began to circulate about a new collabo between Club Monaco and Michael Williams, founder of the popular menswear blog A Continuous Lean. Initially, rumour had it the Bloor Street store was going mens-only, which must have been a relief for local dudes who won’t be able to shop for khakis at the city’s first J.Crew, a ladies-only location.

Not too long ago, I flew to Boston for a short getaway. Aside from the boisterous sea of yellow and black that swept over the city during the Bruins rolling rally, Boston — or more precisely, Bostonian dress — was essentially exactly as I remember it from my first visit there as a kid in the 80s: country club chic.
