Wanted: this shibori dyed silk blouse from Toujours x Fidèle

The concept behind brand-spanking new Toronto label Toujours x Fidèle is one near and dear to the hearts of every fashion-forward environmentalist.

Using vintage clothing and deadstock (that means discontinued merchandise to those of you not hip to the lingo) as the basic building block of every garment in their debut collection, founder and creative director Amy Jenine Wong and her team of young designers reconstruct outdated pieces into modern and charming separates that every woman with a taste for pastels and The Virgin Suicides would absolutely love to wear this summer.

Appropriately named "Suburban Daydream," Wong's covetable collection is full of breezy white tees made from mesh, dotted raincoat dresses and tencel anoraks, structured crop tops, and an amazing pair of white platform sneakers that recalls the days of Sporty Spice.

Toujours x Fidèle held its pop-up shop launch party this past Friday night near the Dundas and Ossington area, and I was immediately floored by the decidedly un-vintage, high-end look of the clothes. A sleeveless silk organza blouse in pink and navy was especially lovely. Featuring overlapping, draped front and back panels, the light-as-a-feather tank is dyed using a shibori technique with black bean and Earl Grey tea.

Knowing the blouse is not only environmentally-friendly but also produced with such a high standard of craftsmanship and quality certainly makes the $265 price tag (plus tax) well worth it.

$265. Available until March 30th at 2 Lakeview, and online thereafter.
