Mengrai Gourmet Thai

No longer the best Thai food in town since chef/owner Sasi Meechai became the part-time chef, pulled away by both her cooking school and the restaurant she and her husband are opening in Chieng Mai. Sasi’s sister helms the stoves now. It’s still better than most of the heavy Thai food in town, which is often weighed down with too much coconut cream. We still love the unsweet pad Thai and red curry chicken with lychee, and the lovely brick rooms. But deep-fried morning glory has lost its lightness, pumpkin soup is too thick and mango salad is far too sweet. Sasi come home!
