The Pasta Bar population is skewing older — could it be the free valet parking? Or the simple excellence of the food and the warm fuzzies of the perfectly professional service? The menu is simplicity incarnate, unfussy apps, marvelous un-creamy soups, a ballsy steak tartare. They do a panoply of fine pastas, all sauced beautifully. Personal fave: feathery gnocchi both enriched and sauced with baby chanterelles, in porcini duck broth with shredded duck confit. Their straightforward fish and meat dishes also shine, especially firm haddock crusted with tarragon and mustard for scent, sauced with roasted tomato vinaigrette for bite, with sides of edamame, sweet oven-dried cherry tomatoes, green beans and honey mushrooms. Sophisticated desserts come from the mother-ship bakeshop.
