#2 Scaramouche Restaurant

Scaramouche Restaurant

This is the best food and service in town, so why is it out of style? Scaramouche begs the question: Do you want the best or hipster fun? There is none of the latter here (and indeed a plethora of grey hair and conservative suits) but all of the former. Chef/owner Keith Froggett and his partner maitre d’ Carl Korte stay put. No BBQ rib spinoffs for these guys. Instead they’re at Scaramouche almost every night. Korte’s staff make every diner feel like royalty and chef does superb modern cooking with the best ingredients money can buy. Perfectly poached Asian inflected lobster is as good as it gets with ginger sesame mayo, lime leaf, coconut, chili and coriander in gossamer lobster broth. Blood-red partridge shines with confit leg ravioli, foie gras and sauce of wild mushrooms, truffles and porcini. Current best dessert is rhubarb-sauternes ice cream with strawberry foam and pistachio crumble.
