Citizens of the Annex pack it every night, thanks to the most reliable bistro food in town. Chef Cory Vitiello’s seasonal risotto always packs a big flavour wallop and is of impeccable texture. His burger blows most other contenders out of the water, thanks in part to the puckery homemade ketchup for the frites. We love chef’s soups, for he never relies on butterfat to jack flavour, instead employing the likes of tomatillo, chili and black beans for excitement. He lightly smokes and poaches trout and tosses tender coins of octopus with citrus and chorizo, to great effect. And still the warm pink room, still the ever-amiable service. End with the indulgence of deep dark chocolate tart with peanut butter mousse and a drizzle of salted caramel.
