In a crowded tapas market Torito shines less bright than previously, although it’s much more comfy now: Half the picnic style tables have been replaced with marble tables and chairs with backs! Standouts are the albondigas — tender lamb meatballs with mint salsa and rich tomato sauce, and rossejat — sweet squid ink pasta served in a paella pan with fat shrimps. Plus piquant piquillo peppers stuffed with juicy braised oxtail on a bed of barely sweet vanilla-scented corn puree. Fab! And they now take reservations, oh joy.
