#36 Mildred’s Temple Kitchen

Mildred’s Temple Kitchen

The Legendary Light & Fluffy Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes touted on the menu of this Liberty Village establishment are worthy of their name, and unlike other pancakes. At almost an inch thick, moist but light with air bubbles, they’re as much fresh biscuit as pancake. Add whipped cream and blueberry coulis and you have a breakfast that’s worth going out for. And speaking of biscuits, Mildred’s basket of house-made scones and biscuits are carb heaven. Perfectly flaky, the scones studded with currants, they hardly need the delicious preserves (also made there and boasting cool combos like peach poppy seed). There’s also Veda’s Choice, Mildred’s take on eggs benny. They switched from hollandaise to barnaise for slightly puckery contrast with buttery croissant. Choose smoked salmon over bacon, which overpowers the dish. Add the bright, spacious room, and the new weekend policy of taking phone numbers and texting, there’s a recipe for pleasure.
