Men impersonating police in Bathurst & Finch robberies

Toronto Police have made three arrests in connection with recent area robberies. Two men and one woman have been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

The men face additional charges, including impersonating a peace officer. In two different cases, men replying to Internet escort ads met with a female and were then led to apartments in the Bathurst Street and Finch Avenue area.

When they arrived, two men who identified themselves as police officers handcuffed and robbed the victims.

Police spokesperson Const. Tony Vella said he believes there may be other victims who haven’t come forward.

“It doesn’t occur all the time but occasionally we do have people that will pose as police officers,” Const. Vella said. Police advise that citizens ask for photo ID and a badge when approached by a plainclothes officer.
