Tea lounge brings British tradition to North York

t-buds Uptown Tea Lounge

New café t-buds Uptown Tea Lounge is brewing more than 80 types of tea. High tea, complete with sandwiches and scones, is served in the upstairs lounge between noon and 5 p.m. every day except for Monday. Gourmet crepes with tea pairings range from about $8 to $12. Everything is made fresh in the shop by a pastry chef (3343 Yonge St., 647-352-3624).

After 25 years of selling fine Italian furniture in the neighbourhood, Martin Daniel Interiors is still family owned and run. The medium- to high-end pieces are organized into three collections at the 30,000-square-foot showroom: contemporary, classic and modern. Exotic woods with high-gloss lacquers are a specialty (2663 Steeles Ave. W., 416-667-0080).

Couture Custom Cleaners, the upscale Yorkville dry cleaner known for taking care of Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo’s laundry, has opened a second location near Bayview Village. In addition to offering valet service, prices for dry-cleaned shirts range from $7.50 to $25, depending on the material (650 Sheppard Ave. E., info@couturecleaners.com, 416-221-1020).

Daiter’s Fresh Market has opened a new café inside its Bathurst Street specialty food store. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available every day. Highlights include soups, salads, paninis and wraps. Customers can choose from 20 different coffees and teas. Come summertime, patio seating will be available behind the shop (3535 Bathurst St., 416-781-6101).

Ron White Shoes is opening a flagship store at Yorkdale Mall this spring. It will carry Badgley Mischka’s full line of handbags and accessories for the current season (1 Yorkdale Rd., 647-352-2861).
