Drake Hotel General Store managers Joyce Lo and Carlo Colacci
Drake Hotel General Store has opened its second location, and this one brings West Queen West culture to Rosedale.
“We look for things that are not easily accessible …We look for things that are more like museum shop than hotel gift shop,” manager Carlo Colacci said, but added that they do carry shampoo and soaps to fulfill the true general store experience. “A lot of people from all over the city visit the store, and whether they buy anything or not, they have a great time,” he said.
Stocked with rare vintage finds, Colacci and Joyce Lo, who co-manages the store, travel far and wide looking for antiques and unique items. “Because we’re buying one or two things at a time, once they sell they are gone,” Colacci said. “So it keeps our customers wanting to come back.” (1011 Yonge St., 416-966-0553).
