Michael Klein and three generations of his family have been a fixture at the Promenade Mall with Nortown Foods. What began as a small butcher shop on Eglinton Avenue in 1960 has grown over 50 years to include two additional stores, including the Thornhill location, originally opened in 1989.

In addition to their reputation for selling only the finest meats, fish and poultry, a wide assortment of prepared foods, specialty grocery items and baked goods are also offered. Michael’s son Brian says that customer loyalty has been strong over the years. “We literally have some customers that started shopping in the late ’60s,” he says.
