Never too old to party hard
Richmond Hill Centre to host third annual Seniors’ Fair
BRENDA HOGG Deputy Mayor
JUNE IS SENIORS’ month across the province, and Richmond Hill will be celebrating.
Throughout June, we want to acknowledge and honour the contributions of our senior population. We also want seniors to be physically active, mentally alert, with opportunities for social engagement within our broader community. Most of all, we want to have fun.
As a newly minted senior myself, I joined the McConaghy Seniors’ Club on Yonge Street. You must be 55 years minimum — so no cheating. I’m looking forward to some of the barbecues, films and road trips.
This year one of the town’s main events will be our third annual Seniors’ Fair on Wed., June 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the new Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts on Yonge Street in our historic downtown.
Tickets are $8 or $10 at the door and will be available through the McConaghy Centre or my office.
Approximately 400 seniors will be well entertained. We will have a choir, a tap dancing troupe and a line dancing troupe.
Opera York has offered to participate, and we even have a beautiful group of belly dancers! Several corporations have offered contributions to make our Seniors’ Fair a success.
Through ticket sales and sponsorship, monies will be raised to help support the McConaghy Seniors’ Centre. Come out and discover new friends, new interests and a day of celebration.
For more information or if you would like to be involved, please call my office at 905-771-2498, or contact me by e-mail at bhogg@richmondhill.ca.
You may also check out our ad on www.richmondhill.com where you will see our belly dancing troupe. Who says we don’t know how to have fun?
See you at the fair!
