The 2011 million-dollar facelift gave Canoe even more Canadiana glamour. All is gorgeous custom wood and stone, from the carved walnut chandeliers to the soapstone bar. At lunchtime Canoe remains Bay Street’s power cafeteria. The view from the 54th floor of the TD Bank Tower is the best in the city, and the captains of industry who command window tables are chowing down on Anthony Walsh’s updated Canadiana menu: venison stew with cranberry buttermilk biscuits, Ontario rabbit with pappardelle, chestnuts, rapini and café au lait sauce, frogs legs with tree syrup, maple and miso B.C. sablefish.
