Forest Hill kicks back at EDO-ko. Yummy mommies with their Bishop Strachan daughters crowd the big booths at lunchtime. Oftimes the counter is busy with St. Clair Avenue shrinks lunching solo. Dinner attracts locals who know that EDO benefits from the purchasing power of big brother EDO, which translates into impeccable fish in the sushi. The best Japanese comfort food in town doesn't appear on the menu, but ask for David's Udon, a meal-in-a-bowl of fat udon noodles in great broth with a rich mix of seafood and veg. They also do first-rate sushi and sashimi and fab cooked treats like nasu dengaku (baked eggplant with excellent miso sauce), ungreasy tempura and perfect seared tuna.
