The Stockyards

The best ribs in Toronto are here. Smoked all day over hickory and apple wood, they’re vaguely sweet and super succulent with a light mahogany crust. The smoker runs only Tuesday, Friday and Sunday from 5 p.m. on so plan your rib-fests for those days, and beware: They sometimes sell out. Other days imagine barely smoked pork juices dripping down your chin, the sweetness of pork loin wrapped in belly fat with fennel and garlic and thyme, studded with chunks of crackling — in the privacy of your home. One can eat at the counters at The Stockyards, but calling 20 minutes ahead yields a steaming paper bag of porcine pleasure to take out. Plus the best southern fried chicken in town. Melting moist buttermilk-marinated flesh and crispy crunch crust. The burger ’n’ fries give The Burger’s Priest a run for their money. It’s a classic flat-top burger with sweet skinny Yukon gold fries.
