Whitehead Inc., a local advertising agency, has switched to web servers that get their energy from turbines in a wind farm. The transition has resulted in a net gain in energy, as the turbines produce 30 per cent more energy than the servers consume. “I had no idea ... that the average web server produces the same emissions as a 15-mile- per-gallon SUV,” says company president Bill Whitehead.
