Toronto artist, Ekow Nimako, builds sculptures from Lego

Building Black, Nimako’s 2014 breakout exhibition of sculptures built with Lego, helped him investigate what he calls the “notion of blackness” and the “cultural beauties and controversies of the black experience” through his work.

In the process of looking for new ways to use the ice, the term “hockey mom” took on a new meaning. No longer content to shuffle kids to practice and cheer them on in the stands, a group of moms launched their own league called Skate Sister Hockey.
