Art@First: Irene Sakata's "Islands"

Date/Time

Thursday Jun 1, 2017 to Sunday Jun 25, 2017

This event occurs daily, every 1 day(s).

Description

Islands allow cultures to develop uniquely, singular in their flora and fauna and their cuisine. Sakata's paintings capture the uniqueness of these island nations, not with direct images, but of her impressions flying over the Southern Alps of New Zealand, tasting glacial ice and witnessing the legacy of Iceland's volcanoes, walking in the hills of Cuba or immersing herself in the culture and tradition of Japan. Please join us for the opening reception and artist's talk Sunday, June 4 from noon to 1 pm. The exhibit runs until June 25.
