Tom Thomson is one of Canada’s most renowned painters — his contributions to the Canadian art landscape and impact on some of the country’s greatest artists is unforgettable. Marking the 100th anniversary of Thomson’s untimely and mysterious death, a collective of 11 bush-trekking plein air painters from across Ontario are retracing Thomson’s journey through Algonquin Park. They will pay tribute to the iconic artist’s legacy and reimagine the untamed landscapes that inspired him. The culmination of this yearlong project will be a new exhibition titled Untamed Things opening at Arta Gallery in the Distillery District on September 9, 2017. The group's name Untamed Things, is inspired by an inscription on the memorial plaque at Canoe Lake that describes Thomson as “the brother of all untamed things in nature.” For more information visit www.untamedthings.com.
