If you set your annual clock by Toronto’s many, many fashion events, one of the year’s biggest is coming to David Pecault Square in just under a month. In fact, you could be reasonably forgiven for considering it the biggest, a who’s-who and what’s-what of the year’s catwalk offerings. For the city’s designers, aficionados, and general lovers of clothing-as-art, World Mastercard Fashion Week is about as big as it gets.
Today, with its Spring/Summer 2015 Collections Event happening from October 20 through 25, the event announced its highlights as a bit of a month-early teaser. Depending how neatly you slot into those preceding descriptions, we suspect you won’t be disappointed by what's coming, either.
Available online, the roster of participating designers includes—but apparently isn’t limited to—the following: Brit Wacher, Bustle, Caitlin Power, Christopher Bates, Elan & Castor, Hayley Elsaesser, HD HOMME, HUNTRESS, Klaxon Howl, RUDYBOIS, Stephen Caras, Som Kong, and others. In addition, there’s also a group finale demonstration, sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, featuring designers Beaufille, Laura Siegel, BLAK.I, VAIKEN, Eliza Faulkner, and Sid Neigum. Participating designers will be strutting their individual selections on the runway, and the visibility the week offers, to put it mildly, is worth its proverbial weight in fashion industry gold. Hosted by actor Lauren Collins and Cityline host Tracy Moore, World Mastercard Fashion Week is expected to draw around 30,000 guests.
“We’re very excited for the Spring/Summer 2015 season of World MasterCard Fashion Week, and continuing to host Canada’s top fashion week,” says Carolyn Quinn, director of IMG Fashion Canada, the event’s parent organization. “We have some incredibly talented new designers showing this year and our special Fashion Saturday event is back, offering the public an insider’s look at fashion and trends for spring 2015.”
World MasterCard Fashion Week’s Spring/Summer 2015 Collections event happens from October 20 to 25, 2014 at David Pecault Square
