Nota Bene

NB is one of the prettiest rooms in town and a great space for a big night out. Glorious splashes of colour give zest and zing to the tall walls, and waitstaff are deliciously suave. The food is informal but upmarket — fun food for six-figure folk. I shall never tire of the NB shaved onion rings — skinny, salty and crisp. Chef does a straightforward lobster salad a la Mexicana with pico de gallo, tomatillo relish and coriander, and a fun Asian-inflected crispy duck salad. His big hearty brisket burger is what happened when burgers got real class. He is competent with fish and snazzier meats, although not exciting. This is good clean cooking.
