Chef/owner Victor Barry is reaching for the stars with his two complex multi-course prix fixe menus - $120 or $170. There’s no a la carte. You can trust this kitchen. From oysters and caviar to foie gras and complex petits fours, the food has the splendour and mouthfeel of la grande cuisine. This is the place for a Big Night Out, the room a very beautiful high-ceilinged pleasure palace. This is the home of major elegance, and chef is a grand master of gastro-complexities: Who else smokes their own oysters, crafts a confection of whitefish and plum, cultures cream with trout, adding maple-scented trout roe? Upticks roast white chocolate with sea buckthorn, cumin and creamed yogurt? It’s clear that separating from County General gave chef Barry the space to unleash his creativity and go the distance.
