#18 Banh Mi Boys

Banh Mi Boys

Deceptively simple, the best banh mi in town is a carnival of flavours: Unfatty pork belly with a touch of crisp on it is inflected with five-spice powder and sandwiched with cucumber, coriander and lightly pickled sweet/hot carrot and daikon shreds. Best is on bao — the Vietnamese moist steamed bun. But on baguette — the edible reminder of Vietnam’s French period — is also très delicieux. They also do a great beef short rib Sammy and spicy meatball. As for kimchi fries, these are to Korean food what poutine is to Canadian cuisine. Sweet perfect frites are mixed with fab pulled pork, green onions and mayo, with enough kimchi on top for excitement.
