#28 Bar Fancy

Bar Fancy

Down an alley, no words on the sign. How cool can you get? Jonathan Poon formerly of Chantecler gives us a casual bar with super-yummy food. Coyly snazzy small items come on melamine with brown paper towel for napkins. Maybe the best fried chicken in town. Skip spicy Thai salad — too mouth-burning. But don’t miss the marvellous rough-chopped Asian spiced steak tartare with raw green beans, lime and fried shallots on tostadas. Or the silly-sounding but wonderful shrimp sandwich on toasted Wonder-bread with shaved iceberg and mayo: A fat loaf of diced shrimp and pork makes this retro sammy super-great. No res, small room, go early or line up.
