#46 Fin Izakaya

Fin Izakaya

Inexpensive uptown izakaya is a dream come true. Fin is a dark wood retreat from the workday, classically izakaya with the shouted greetings from behind the counter, the TVs tuned to sports and the huge menu of cheap Japanese food. And hurrah, it is mostly very well executed. We love the table-top cooked sukiyaki with super thinly sliced beef, tofu and bok choy in sweetened soy. They grill whole sea bass perfectly for less than half what other restos charge; and their clams with shrimp steamed in sake is pretty good too. And they do a kick-ass tempura udon meal-in-a-bowl. Too bad it’s only at lunchtime.
