Campagnolo has matured into a rock-solid champion of Italo-comfort food, alla nonna, from warm cheesy gougères pastry in the breadbasket to velvety salted caramel budino for dessert. In between are high-flavoured house-made pastas like spaghetti all’Amatriciana with fabulous tomato sauce built on browned garlic and guanciale. This is hearty cooking — Upscale Ital-mamma food. And the room feels increasingly gracious as all the other hot restos in town mimic their casual take on fine food.
