#22 The Chase

The Chase

It’s matured into a very good resto. Still drop-dead gorgeous — divine decadence, a penthouse atop of a heritage downtown building. You take the elevator to the 5th floor, to a glam space lit by grand chandeliers and tall windows. Luxe banquettes and generous tables, with service and food to match. Wonderful octopus comes jazzed with salsa verde, merguez sausage and piquillo peppers. This is a kitchen having a grand love affair with meat. Their lamb is superb — pink tender cinnamon and yogurt marinated rack with braised shank tagine with pomegranate, cauliflower and couscous. Fat gilded scallops sit pretty on yellow beet risotto. Even dessert has been given an edit: Previously over-the-top lime confection is now a dignified — and delectable — minuet of sponge cake layered with lime curd, topped with crisped coconut, clad in just enough toasted marshmallow, with coconut cream to die for.
